All Oxy community members and their families, as well as non-Oxy neighbors and visitors, can access our campus grounds. Limitations remain in place for indoor access.
Oxy Employees and Students
All Oxy community members must follow all health and safety protocols while on campus. All community members, vaccinated and unvaccinated, will be required to have a clearance email from firstname.lastname@example.org in order to access campus facilities. Effective June 14, all cleared students, staff and faculty are able access campus buildings as they normally would pre-COVID.
Curbside pickup services for the Oxy Bookstore, Postal Operations, Library, and Marketplace are available for all employees and for students who are living off campus (including Tiger Takeout). The Oxy Bookstore is now open to outside visitors as well.
Visitors are permitted on Occidental property within specific limitations. While we are opening the campus grounds to all visitors, we are maintaining strict limitations on building access. All visitors using any Oxy buildings must be hosted and/or invited by a College employee, department, or registered student, and must follow the guidelines in our interim visitor policy as well as Occidental's health and safety protocols. On the visitor policy page you will find a link to visitor health check form that must be submitted in advance of your visitor’s arrival. At this time, we are not checking visitors’ vaccination status, and all visitors will be required to follow the current masking policy.
We are excited to welcome prospective students and their families this summer! Read our plans for a return to in-person campus tours.
The Library, Marketplace, and Oxy Bookstore are now open to all students (on and off campus), faculty and staff, subject to current hours, posted regulations and daily health check clearance. The Bookstore is also open, at 50% capacity, to the general public. The Postal Center has curbside pickup service available for any Oxy community member without a health check clearance. Curbside pickup also remains an option at the Library.
The Academic Commons is partially open to faculty, students, and staff wanting to reserve individual study spaces or time to browse the stacks, Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm.
The Library is also offering both digitization services and curbside pickup for analog materials. Faculty, students, and staff can request access to our circulating analog materials (books, DVDs, CDs etc.) by emailing requests to email@example.com. Curbside pickup is available Monday through Friday, from 9am to 5pm.
As always, librarians, archivists, and technologists are available to meet remotely with faculty, students, and staff for Research Consultations. View the full list of remote Library services.
All athletic facilities that are typically available to students, faculty, and staff for recreational use are now accessible to campus community members. The campus remains closed to the general public.
The outdoor basketball court and Pongracz Wright putting green area as well as the Alumni Gym Fitness Center are accessible to current Occidental students, staff, and faculty only. Please refer to the Alumni Gym Fitness Center protocols for more specific information about facility hours, access, requirements, and other applicable rules.
See tennis court protocols for recreational use of the McKinnon Family Tennis Center, Kemp Stadium protocols for recreational use of the field and track, or De Mandel Aquatics Center protocols for lap swim information. The Occidental campus as a whole remains closed to the public so we are still waiting to welcome Oxy Community Passholders back to our athletic facilities.
The bookstore is open to campus and outside visitors M-F, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and staff is fulfilling web orders for either shipping or pick up during the aforementioned hours. The Oxy Bookstore is now accepting textbook orders (both physical and e-book copies) for fall classes. Your first order comes with free domestic shipping. Physical books can be found at oxybookstore.com. The Bookstore now works with two e-book vendors to provide even more digital book options: Redshelf and VitalSource.
Dining Services is currently providing food service at the Marketplace for on-campus students and employees, including Tiger Takeout. Check their website for all you need to know about Summer 2021 dining.
The copy center is closed until further notice.
