Campus Operations & Access

The Occidental campus is closed to the general public at this time.

Oxy employees and students: Physical entry to the Oxy Bookstore, Postal Operations and Marketplace is limited to the designated employees and students working or living on campus and getting regularly tested for COVID-19. Curbside pickup services for these locations are available for all employees and students who are living off campus (including Tiger Takeout). All Oxy community members must complete a health check using the College-sponsored health monitoring app before coming to campus for any reason, and must follow all health and safety protocols while on campus.

Visitors are permitted on Occidental property within specific limitations. All visitors must be hosted and/or invited by a College employee, department, or registered student, and must follow the guidelines in our interim visitor policy as well as Occidental's health and safety protocols.

Academic Commons/Library

The Academic Commons is closed, but the library is offering both digitization services and curbside pickup for analog materials. Faculty, students, and staff can request access to our circulating analog materials (books, DVDs, CDs etc.) by placing holds on items via the library catalog or by emailing requests to

Curbside pickup is available Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 4 p.m. on the patio outside the main entrance to the Academic Commons. Shipping is available to students living off campus.

As always, librarians, archivists, and technologists are available to meet remotely with faculty, students, and staff for Research Consultations. You can also use the "Ask a Librarian" chat service. View the full list of remote Library services.

Athletic Facilities

The Occidental Fitness Center and all other athletic facilities are closed. This closure includes indoor facilities as well as all outdoor venues.

Oxy Bookstore

The bookstore is open M-F, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and staff is fulfilling web orders for either shipping or curbside pick up during the aforementioned hours. The Oxy Bookstore is now accepting textbook orders (both physical and e-book copies) for fall classes. Your first order comes with free domestic shipping. Physical books can be found at The Bookstore now works with two e-book vendors to provide even more digital book options: Redshelf and VitalSource.

Campus Dining

Dining Services is currently providing food service in the Marketplace for on-campus students and employees. Regular hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays, 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On Branca Patio, our no-contact Tiger Takeout program is available Monday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 2p.m. and serves on- and off-campus students and employees with any meal plan, Bengal Bucks or rollover funds. You can order 24/7 using the GET Mobile app.

New for Spring 2021, the Coffee Cart is operating on Rose Hills Plaza (outside the Oxy Bookstore). Hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 2pm.

The Tiger Cooler and Green Bean are closed until further notice.

DOCS Copy Center

The copy center is closed until further notice.

Emmons Wellness Center

Emmons medical providers and counselors are available via telehealth consultation to all students Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. For students wishing to schedule an appointment:

24/7 telephonic medical and counseling triage remains available for all students and community members anywhere in the United States via Helpline at (323) 341-4141. For more on the medical and mental health services available to students please visit the Emmons Wellness Center website.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are an Oxy community member who has tested positive for Covid-19, please contact HR or Sara Semal ASAP to notify us so that appropriate cleaning in the areas where you last were can take place, contact tracing and quarantining can be conducted, and community notices can be made (if warranted). Please note that your personal information and diagnoses will remain confidential.

Web Help & Office Hours

The web team is offering virtual office hours for web editor inquiries and trainings. You can request an appointment via this form (web editor trainings are normally offered Tuesdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 2 p.m.).
