About Nancy Baker Cahill:
Nancy also created the ongoing, collaborative, AR public art exhibition Coordinates, a new feature on her app, which allows individual artists to activate their work in site-specific locations. Baker Cahill was a featured TEDx speaker in September 2018 in Pasadena, was recently profiled in a Bloomberg Media Art and Technology short documentary, and recently received an “Impact Maker to Watch” award at LA City Hall in mid-January. She is a participating artist in the 2019 Desert X, site-specific public art exhibition.About Oxy Cinematheque:
Oxy Cinematheque is an annual series of film/media events curated by Occidental's Media Arts and Culture Department that are free and open to the public. Organized around a new theme each year, the series is designed to bring together the college and Los Angeles communities. This semester's series, The Art & Politics of Virtual Reality, explores how VR can be used not simply as a vehicle for entertainment or escape, but also a space for cultural questioning, activism, and social change. The series is being curated by Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Media and Culture Dr. Adam Sulzdorf-Liszkiewicz. Events are sponsored by the Media Arts & Culture Department, the Mellon Foundation, the Remsen Bird Fund and the Center for Community Based Learning.
