Marcus Forbes is an Oxy alum, and the CEO and founder of Forbes Sports & Education, a social benefit organization providing mentorship, academic support, college prep, and educational workshops to youth athletes in the Sacramento area. Marcus is a community educator, NCAA certified coach, educational consultant, and social entrepreneur who is passionate about creating informal spaces of learning. His current work involves merging sports and education to positively affect youth development by turning the pursuit of a passion into a structured and guided learning experience. Marcus is a firm believer in the power of mentorship, and works to create visible and tangible success pipelines for the youth in his community. He obtained his bachelors degree in CTSJ from Oxy before going on to attain a masters degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, where he studied social entrepreneurship and innovative approaches to solving educational inequities. He aims to transform education into an everyday experience which exceeds the confines of traditional schools by orienting learning around the interests of individual youth.
