In support of the new Music Production track in the Music major, the Music Department is hosting industry professionals in a series of guest lectures, each followed by a Q&A and reception.

Lisa Hauptman is the Global Head of People at Downtown Music Publishing, where she directs talent development and recruitment. Since joining as Executive Director of Operations in 2015, Hauptman has overseen the company's growth from 44 to 110 full-time employees worldwide and its addition of three new offices in Tokyo, Paris, and Sydney. In this guest lecture, she will talk to students about how to find the right jobs and internships, as well as what hiring managers are looking for in candidates.

Founded in 2007, Downtown Music Publishing is one of the world's leading rights-management firms, with offices in New York, Nashville, Los Angeles, London, and Amsterdam. The company's catalog spans over seven decades of popular music, encompassing some of the world's most beloved songwriters and artists including The Beatles, John Lennon & Yoko Ono, The Kinks, Randy Newman, Deep Purple, Hans Zimmer, Bruce Springsteen, Mötley Crüe, One Direction, Hardwell, Santigold and Carla Bruni. The company also represents such renowned publishing catalogs as Cy Coleman's Notable Music, the legendary Latin music catalog, Fania, the UK's Kassner Music, and Germany's Budde Music. The company's technology platform, Songtrust, powers global royalty collection for over 80,000 individual songwriters as well as companies such as CD Baby, The Orchard and Downtown's own catalog in over 90 countries around the world.

This lecture is made possible by the generous support of the Mellon Foundation.
