Event Date: May. 31, 2018

Each year the Occidental College Women’s Club chooses a theme for its annual quilt raffle. All proceeds go towards scholarships for Occidental students along with a small gift to the International Programs Office and the Dean’s Discretionary Fund. This year the Women’s Club was moved by the 75th anniversary of the Japanese American Incarceration: Never Again series.  They have selected a theme that will commemorate the completion of the series and this important part of our shared American history.

The photo featured on the right is a quilt raffled in spring 2007. The theme of this quilt intricately displays California floral species and native wildlife. It is a shining example of the beautiful handmade artistry the Women’s Club has become known for. This year the quilt design is called "Bento Box" and will incorporate stunning indigo blue colors along with hints of vibrant red using Japanese fabric. The raffle tickets became available in October and the winner of the quilt will be drawn at the end of spring 2018. It is not too late to grab your raffle tickets!

For more information, contact Clara Gresham ’53. You can grab 6 tickets for just $5. You may send an email message or call Clara asking her to send a mailing with quilt tickets to your name and street address (to be mailed in March): claragresham@earthlink.net or 909-883-6161.

Below is a sneak preview of the quilt currently under construction.
