The best preparation for good work tomorrow is to do good work today.

In Los Angeles the opportunities to do good work are limited only by your imagination. Whether your interests lie in social justice, law, politics, business or the entertainment industry, our Career Development Center is the perfect jumping-off point for finding not just a job, but a lifelong passion.

Oxy’s internships prepare activists and artists for the challenging—and critical—work of the social service sector. And future doctors and scientists can conduct research at City of Hope or shadow doctors at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Students who want an up-close look at a potential career can also participate in one of our Walk In My Shoes (WIMS) job-shadowing programs that take place in the fall semester and over winter break. Students chosen for these competitive programs spend a day with a professional in their area of interest and reflect upon their experience in an academic setting.

InternLA is a donor-sponsored internship program that funds over 35 selected students to intern in over 30 L.A.-based organizations and companies during the summer. Yes, that means interns get paid for their hard work! During their inaugural season students gained experience at L.A. organizations such as the Grammy Museum, Payden & Rygel and Esperanza Immigrant Rights Project.
