Alexandra Puerto

Alexandra Puerto is Associate Professor of History and Chair of Latinx and Latin American Studies. She specializes in the history of race, science, and medicine in twentieth century Latin America, especially Mexico and its borderlands, with particular interests in indigenous, migrant, and environmental health issues. Professor Puerto has supervised over 60 undergraduate research projects including Richter funded research abroad, URC-SRP projects, and senior theses. She is the recipient of the 2017 Janosik-Sterling Award for Distinguished Service and the 2022 Linda and Tod White Teaching Prize.
