Dining Services Moves to the Tiger Cooler May 17-June 1
Earlier this year, routine inspection of the Johnson Student Center revealed a termite infestation beyond the scope of the spot treatments that are routinely applied to the building. This will require tenting the entire structure for fumigation, which is scheduled to start Monday, May 17. All employees will temporarily move out of JSC, while we continue to provide key services elsewhere on campus.
In addition to fumigation, Facilities Management has scheduled multiple projects to address hot water, steam and ventilation repairs immediately after the tent comes down. These projects can be better managed when food production isn’t taking place. This additional work means that Dining Services will be out of the building for nearly two weeks.
This work was scheduled immediately after Commencement because only a few dozen students are on campus between the end of Spring Semester and the start of summer programs. This is also one of the few times during the year that dining services can reduce its inventory of food, which decreases the amount that has to be relocated to temporary storage.
Please note that one semi-trailer for refrigerated food and one for frozen food will be parked on the east side of Baer Road, across from Kemp Stadium. The refrigeration is diesel powered, and will produce low, ambient sound all day and night, from May 17 through approximately May 28.
Meal service will be available in the Tiger Cooler from Monday, May 17-Tuesday June 1. The Marketplace is expected to reopen on Wednesday June 2.
