What should I do if an employer rescinds or discontinues a job or internship offer due to COVID-19?
If the employer explained the reason for rescinding or discontinuing the offer is a result of a hiring freeze or other hiring change caused by COVID-19, there is nothing you can do to change the decision. Understand the decision is not a reflection on you or your skills or potential. Let the employer know you remain very interested in the opportunity and you would like to be considered when the organization is hiring again. You can also schedule an appointment with a Career Advisor or email firstname.lastname@example.org for guidance.
Can I receive unemployment benefits after graduation?
Contact the unemployment office in the state where you last worked. Learn about California eligibility requirements.

How does this affect INT 100 and INT 200?
Students enrolled in INT 100 or INT 200 for the spring semester should have received an email explaining next steps. Students who are continuing their internship are still required to meet the objectives of the INT Student Learning Agreement. The registrar has extended the course withdrawal deadline to Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Please see the registrar’s guidelines to make sure you comply.
Is the HCC offering funding for unpaid summer internships?
We do not anticipate availability of funding for unpaid summer 2020 internships at this time.
How do I spend my summer if I cannot find an internship?
Pursue other options. Consider volunteering, taking online classes, building a portfolio, working on a long-term project, or looking for a part-time job – opportunities that build skills are time well spent and can strengthen your resume.
I am an international student and my visa requires that I find work related to my major.
What industries are hiring right now?

Will the HCC host events where I can meet potential employers?
The HCC Employer Engagement team is communicating with employers and will schedule virtual employer events as they become available. Check Handshake for event updates.
