Personal & Academic Support

We know there is a lot going on right now with the COVID-19 health crisis and that you have many new challenges to manage, personally and academically.

Recognizing that, we’ve assembled some online Oxy resources and offerings designed specifically to support your personal and academic success throughout this remote learning experience. This includes everything from interactive workshops to online advising and virtual office hours to chat and connect. Your Oxy community is still here and ready to help!

Academic Advising

Advising Week has been rescheduled and extended to a two-week period from March 30 to April 10. During this time all continuing students should connect with their faculty advisors to discuss their course selections for Fall 2020. Remote advising can be done effectively using several communication platforms, including video conference, telephone, and email.

Advising Workshops

Caro Brighouse, Associate Dean for Student Academic Affairs, will offer several advising workshops over the next two weeks. The workshops will cover questions about Core Requirements, transferring credit to Oxy, academic policies such as CR/NC, GPA requirements and other degree requirements, and how best to plan to stay on track with your degree during this time. Students who would like to talk about their own personal academic situation can follow up with a 1-1 video conference.

Thinking about going CR/NC for any courses this semester? Questions about transferring in courses you take this summer? This workshop will give you answers. Caro Brighouse will describe the policy changes for this semester and will be able to answer your questions.
