International Programs Office
Multinational Students
Did you spend time growing up outside your passport country due to your parent’s professions? When someone asks you where you’re from, do you answer, “When?”
Many Occidental students have multiple cultural allegiances. Also known as “global nomads” or “third culture kids,” multinational students have much to contribute to the international conversation on campus. You bring an enhanced worldview, may be multilingual and have well-honed cross cultural skills. At the same time, you may feel you belong everywhere and nowhere. You may become restless every few years, ready for another move.
You are not alone! Many Occidental students, both US citizens and international , have similar multinational experiences. Join the International Students Organization! Start a Global Nomads/Multinationals student organization! Become involved with the International Programs Office!
