The goal of the Sponsored Research Office (SRO) is to maintain a supportive environment for research, scholarly, and creative endeavors of the faculty and academic staff. The Sponsored Research Office supports Occidental's involvement in projects and programs funded from sources outside the College.  

The Sponsored Research Office, the Grants and Contracts Office, and Corporate and Foundation Relations Office work together to coordinate sponsored projects, and they serve as authorized representatives for grants, contracts and other agreements from government agencies, private industry, and non-profit foundations. 

The staff of SRO is committed to helping faculty seek and obtain external funding, submit proposals, administer awards, and comply with all applicable College and sponsor policies. The SRO is responsible for all Federal proposal submissions [NSF-Fastlane, grants.gov (NIH, DoE, DoEd, etc.)] and for overseeing compliance with federal and college policies for all research activities. 

The Grants and Contracts Office, GCO, is responsible for post-award grant administration and serves as the fiscal manager on projects and programs funded by sources outside the College, assists in the preparation of budgets, manages expenditures and prepares reports to the funding agency as needed.

The Corporate and Foundation Relations Office, CFR, identifies potential funding sources, prepares proposals for institutional awards, assists with private foundation proposal submissions and with the preparation of annual reports. It is responsible for gifts to the college and maintains the College’s relationship with foundations and corporations.
