Choose Health LA Kids is a local initiative of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health aimed at helping children maintain a healthy weight. This initiative brings together a broad range of community partners to implement community-based public education, skills-building, and environmental change to promote physical activity and healthy eating among the nearly one million Los Angeles County children ages 0-5.
The Choose Health Los Angeles project at Occidental College, serving the
Northeast Los Angeles community, is comprised of a three prong approach:
1. Nutrition and Physical Activity Education for Parents
2. Parent Collaboratives
3. Restaurant Engagement
-The Media Intern will be responsible for supporting programming focused on families with children 0-5 year. The dues include but are not limited to:
-Researching and adapting best practice approach to parent outreach, including website and social media communication.
-Developing and implementing a communications strategic plan for working with primarily low-income Latino families.
-Managing social media accounts: responding to messages, initiating contact, scheduling and posting content, and general maintenance.
-Film and edit short video clips related to program activities.
-Develop website, flyer, handout, and other communication layout, format, and sometimes content.
-Other media related activities as required.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
-Experience in Adobe Suite/Contribute, ideal.
-Past experience with social media management tools, like HootSuite, ideal.
-Experience filming and editing video, ideal.
-Preferably bilingual in Tagalog or Spanish.
-Able to manage multiple time sensitive projects.
