His principal area of research focuses on the revival of early music during the first half of the 20th century, with a particular emphasis on the movement's interdisciplinary connections, as well as its conjunctions with modernism and neoclassical composition. Additionally, he is interested in issues of music and technological mediation, including early phonograph culture and the development of mechanical and electro-acoustic instruments.
