Occidental offers an unparalleled experience in the creative arts, on campus and extending into the international creative arts capital of Los Angeles.
In L.A., you are truly at the center of it all. Our location means almost limitless access to hands-on learning opportunities, be it internships, primary source research, or unique partnerships with entertainment studios, theaters, museums, galleries and innovative arts organizations across the city.
At Oxy, you will learn from and work alongside professors who are both scholars and active practitioners of art, music, film/media and theater. Faculty bring diverse, working artists to Oxy for interactions on an intimate scale, including the Wanlass Artist in Residence and Hume Fellowship in the Performing Arts programs.
Oxy Arts is the College’s community-based arts hub. It engages the surrounding community and brings established and emerging artists to Oxy for exhibitions, performances, talks and workshops. Its new location adjacent to campus on York Boulevard (opening Spring 2019), where many arts department courses will be taught, offers street-front gallery and performance spaces along with unique opportunities for engagement.
