Occidental College
Student Handbook
Code of Student Conduct
Mission
The Office of Student Conduct is the department designated by the Dean of Students Office to be responsible for the administration of the Code. Reflecting the College's commitment to learning, students charged with violating the Code are encouraged to grow in their respect for others, to understand how their behavior affects the community, and to alter their behavior as necessary.
As members of the Occidental community, it is expected that students act as responsible members and citizens within both the college and local community. In the event a situation arises in which the Student Code of Conduct is broken, the Office of Student Conduct administers the student conduct process. This includes all violations of college policies whether taking place on or off campus, involving both individual students and student organizations.
The goal of the Office of Student Conduct is to create and maintain a community in which students take responsibility for understanding and enriching their environment and respecting the rights and needs of others as a whole.
