Occidental College offers both need-based financial aid (based on a family's income and assets) and merit-based scholarships (based on achievement in academics or extracurricular and personal activities). International students may qualify for merit and/or need-based assistance.

All applicants will be considered for merit-based scholarships, but please know that need-based financial aid for international citizens is extremely limited and highly competitive. Typically, only 2-3 students are selected each year for international need-based financial assistance.

The application requirements for financial aid vary based on the student’s citizenship. All non-U.S. citizens must submit the International Student Financial Form, regardless of whether they will apply for need-based aid; this form will become available to you after you submit your application. U.S. Citizens and Permanent Residents residing outside of the U.S. have different requirements, as shown in this table:

The College will verify the financial resources of all international applicants before a Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) is issued. We will be in touch with students via email after they officially pay their enrollment deposit in order to begin the visa process.
