Alternative Loans

If you need additional assistance to fund your education, alternative loans are available to credit-worthy borrowers.

Alternative or Private Loans are designed to supplement federal, state, and institutional aid. Borrowers must be creditworthy, and may require a co-signer. We suggest that you wait to review your financial aid award before applying for these loans.

Private Loan Marketplace

The Private Loan Marketplace is a tool that can assist you in selecting a private educational loan. This website allows you to compare private loan terms and rates side-by-side. The website will give you an overview of loan options before requesting an application and credit check. The application and credit check will occur once you select the loan of your choice. Please see our Lender Selection Criteria* for information on how lenders are chosen for the Private Loan Marketplace.

Code of Conduct

Occidental College has adopted a Code of Conduct* with respect to student loans which applies to all employees in the Financial Aid Office and anyone else at the College who has any responsibilities with respect to student loans or the selection of preferred lenders for student loans.
