Music on a Friday Afternoon

Music on a Friday Afternoon (or "MOFA") is an informal recital series where students showcase the music they've been practicing throughout the semester. A long-standing tradition in the Music Department, MOFAs allow students to gain performance experience while connecting with peers and community members.

Maya Angulo, Kailey Bae, James Henderson, Raiah Rofsky, Veronica Wang, Sherwin Zhang, and Ryan Yuzhe Zhu will perform as soloists, with piano accompaniment by Alan Geier and Shawn Costantino.

Jazz Ensemble Fall Concert

Directed by Shawn Costantino, the Jazz Ensemble meets weekly to rehearse, learn basic jazz theory, and practice improvisational skills. Jazz enables people of diverse cultures, nationalities, and backgrounds to come together and communicate through the common language of music. Regularly playing to a full house, the ensemble brings the best of jazz to Bird Studio once every semester, with past performances including music by Cole Porter, Dizzy Gillespie, Thad Jones, Wayne Shorter, Joe Henderson, Henry Mancini, Stevie Wonder, and many others.

Composition Seminar Fall Concert

Students of MUSC257 will premiere new works for viola, double bass, and percussion. Performed by faculty artists Michael Larco, Ted Botsford, and Yuri Inoo.
