Students are not required to audition for a scholarship, but we do ask that all students with the intention of signing up for private lessons sign up for a placement evaluation so that we can better match them with an instructor. The link to the placement form/scholarship audition form has been included below. Upon receiving your application, one of our ensemble directors will reach out to you and provide you with your time slot.

This workshop will trace connections from João Gilberto’s bossa nova guitar, to Michael Jackson’s collaborations with Olodum, to the modern sounds of artists like Noname and Laufey.

Whether you’re a performer looking to deepen your rhythmic vocabulary, a producer wanting to expand their arranging/sequencing techniques, or a listener curious about the roots of today’s pop music, this workshop will help deepen your understanding of Brazilian rhythm.
