Updated guidance for the return to work after the 2021 winter break.

Oxy staff and faculty:

We hope that you have had a restful break. We write to provide updated guidance for the return to work after winter break on Monday, January 3. We plan to open campus as scheduled next week. However, given the current nature of the pandemic and the rapidly evolving public health guidance concerning the Omicron variant, we will be especially prudent in how we resume operations. As a result, in consultation with the COVID Operations Group, President Elam and Dr. Shriner, we have determined the following:

  • For the weeks of January 3 and January 10, we are encouraging all employees who do not need to be on campus to work remotely. Employees will receive follow up communication from their supervisors or division vice presidents before Monday specifying who needs to be on campus to support operations.

  • Anyone coming to campus on January 3 must report to the AGC testing center for a COVID test before 10 a.m. Test results will be available before Tuesday morning. Do not come to campus if you are ill or experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19.

The COVID Operations Group continues to closely monitor developments related to COVID and the Omicron variant. At this time, our guidance continues as communicated on December 22, with students returning to campus to start classes as scheduled on Tuesday, January 18. We expect that the next update for all students, staff and faculty will be sent by Wednesday, January 5.

Community members are encouraged to submit any comments or questions about COVID related issues to oxy@oxy.edu, an inbox staffed by the Marketing & Communications team. We thank you in advance for your attention to these directives.
