In the aftermath of aggressive social distancing efforts, the collapse of oil prices, and the significant decline of automobile and air travel, many points to declining levels of pollution and greenhouse gas emissions as potential civil linings to the global coronavirus pandemic. Similarly, like climate change, no one is invulnerable to the coronavirus, but not everyone is equally vulnerable. Nor is everyone equally able to adapt to life without fossil fuels, just as social distancing has revealed real inequalities in healthcare, internet, and food accessibility in the United States.

What lessons should we take from the coronavirus and political responses to it for thinking about and realizing a just response to climate change? In this brown-bag, Professor Sardo will suggest that the coronavirus pandemic offers us lessons, warnings, and hope for confronting climate change.
