Jacques Fomerand, the Assistant Director of Oxy’s Kahane United Nations Program since 2003, enjoyed a long career at the United Nations, including serving in the UN Secretariat’s Office of the Under-Secretary General of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs and as the Director of the United Nations University’s North American Office. He has published widely on the UN and international human rights. Professor Fomerand will speak about his motivation for writing a second edition of his influential book, Historical Dictionary of Human Rights (published by Rowman & Littlefield in 2021), and the contribution he hopes to make to a reasoned understanding of the United Nations.
