The Oxy Economics department is proud to present our inaugural event for our Visible Hands Series; this series will be a partnership between the department and the Oxy’s Alumni Organizations. Professor Mary Lopez and Professor Jesse Mora will lead the discussion in our first alumni panel. The panel is a collaborative event between Occidental College Latino/a Alumni Association (OCLAA), the Economics Department, WOE, and ESA.

Economics is the study of decision-making. Economists are interested in the factors that motivate people’s decision-making, and in how social and resource constraints affect these decisions. In this inaugural event, our students will have an opportunity to engage with a panel of Oxy Latinx alums who occupy decision-making positions in various professional fields and at different levels of decision-making (CEOs, Entrepreneurs, Program Directors, and even a District Chief of Staff for a congresswoman) and hear about the different types of decisions they make and the factors that shape those decisions, including their Latinx background. All current, past, and future Oxy students are welcomed to attend!
