Raina Pahade (they/them) is a senior Critical Theory and Social Justice Major with double minors in Studio Art and Gender studies. They are an interdisciplinary artist focusing on multi-media paintings that explore gender, queerness, and the body within the South Asian diaspora
Under the guidance of Professor Jose Sanchez, Raina is excited to share મારું પોતાનું એક સ્થળ (Maru potanu Sthal) A Place of My Own. This is Raina’s first solo installation which features two mixed media paintings made from sourced sari fabric, oil and acrylic that confront themes of gender, the queer body, and the self as an archive as it relates to the south asian diaspora. These pieces function as an addition to their senior comprehensive project “Reclaiming Narratives: The Radical Power of Art in Queer South Asian Femme Diasporic Expression”, for which they were awarded distinction on.
