SASA will be hosting its first-ever Mock Shaadi (Wedding) in order to bring the celebrations and traditions of South Asian weddings to our community in Oxy. Weddings are a significant part of South Asian culture, as they represent an opportunity to bond with family and friends over multiple days of ceremonies.
Led by trained martial arts instructor Victor Chico of Oxy Karate, this interactive session will introduce participants to foundational karate-based self-defense techniques—no prior experience necessary! Through guided practice, you’ll learn how to recognize threats, assert your boundaries, and respond to unsafe situations with strength and confidence.
This Open Forum seeks to create a dialogue between Tom, senior administrators, and the greater student body. We encourage all students to show up curious and ready to discuss issues important to them. We understand that many students have questions for Tom and the administration and would like to create a space for open discussion in order to achieve collective understanding.
For this Spring, Emmons and the Office of Equity and Justice will be demystifying grief. We invite all faculty, staff, and students to attend and participate in some powerful discussions.
