Andrea Marquez
Senior Fellow

Andrea is a senior at Occidental College where she is majoring in Latino/a & Latin American Studies and minoring in Education and History. Her fields of study have fueled her interest in education policy and Latin American politics through a historiographical lens. As a first-generation college student, her studies are centered around the schooling experiences of students of color through a community-based lens. At Oxy, Andrea is involved with many student-led organizations, including Planned Parenthood Club, Student Labor Alliance, Latinx Student Union, and is the VP of Finance for Sigma Lambda Gamma, the multicultural sorority on campus. Previous work experiences on campus have included the Pre-Law Program, Neighborhood Partnership Program, and the Dean of Students Office. Off-campus, Andrea is a Prevention Specialist with Koreatown Youth + Community Center and an International Youth Consultant with Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America. Through both organizations, she leads community-based efforts among parents to prevent substance misuse and has found a way to connect community-based prevention efforts within schools at the local and international level. In her off time, you can catch Andrea hanging out in the dog park by the library, hiking, or eating a veggie burrito at Delia’s! After graduation, Andrea hopes to get a joint Master's degree in Education Policy and Social Work.
