Daryl Barker
Reference and Instruction Librarian

Daryl Barker is a reference and instruction librarian at Oxy serving the sciences and social sciences in particular. He graduated with a BA in politics from Oxy in 2017 and is currently completing a MLIS at UCLA with a focus on academic librarianship. His work especially looks at working with non-traditional students in libraries with an emphasis on serving transfer students, veterans, and students with dependents. Additionally, he brings a background working on gender justice and queerness in the library and information studies field and beyond. He has presented work at the Critical Pedagogy Symposium and served on the National Forum on working with Veterans in Libraries. He approaches literacy instruction through a learner centered approach and incorporates critical pedagogies to empower students to grow and learn in the context of library based instruction.
