Emma Pond
Senior Fellow

Emma is an Economics major and Computer Science minor from the Bay Area. At Oxy, she is the president of the Economics Student Association, where she has helped to organize events that connect students in the department with faculty and alumni. She has also been a member of Peer Health Exchange, an organization that brings health education workshops taught by college students into underserved high schools in Los Angeles, throughout her time at college She is also a director on the Blyth Fund, Oxy's student-run investment portfolio. At Oxy, Emma has discovered her passion for data analysis through classes in both economics and computer science, as well as her experience as a research assistant for an economics professor. Her favorite thing about studying economics is getting to explore why people make decisions, and using data to bring those reasons to light. During the spring of her Junior year she studied abroad in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she studied global economics, the social democratic systems of the Nordic states, and big data, all while exploring the happiest country in the world (even though it only ended up being two months)! This semester, Emma is looking forward to coming up with new ways to stay connected and engaged in a remote campus experience!
