Marcela is a professional in accounting and finance. With over 18 years of experience, as a staff accountant in commercial and nonprofit, head buyer and project manager within the steel industry, she brings to the Associated Students of Occidental College support and guidance in budgeting and finance. Starting her career at Oxy with the Business Office in 2021 as the accounting coordinator, she quickly found herself as an essential part of the Business Office stepping in as the Accounts Payable Manager interim and Payroll Processing while still supporting Student Accounts. It was through Student Accounts that she realized that helping students directly brought a special feeling of accomplishment. After a year and a half, Marcela decided to transfer to ASOC as the Finance Manager. Marcela is not all about numbers, during her spare time she likes to read and serve the community by volunteering with the red cross as a Disaster Action Team member and Duty Officer.
