Mason Emery
Field Research Assistant

Mason received a B.S. in Marine Biology from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2017. After graduation, he worked Raimondi-Carr lab assisting Ph.D. candidates with research diving projects in kelp forests and estuaries from Elkhorn Slough in California to Sitka, Alaska, until moving on to graduate school. Mason received my M.S. degree in Biology from California State Unversity Fullerton in 2022 in the Zacherl lab, where he also received a CA Sea Grant Graduate Research Fellowship. His thesis work focused on eelgrass and oyster relationships in a restoration setting within Upper Newport Bay. Mason joined the VRG in 2022 as a Seasonal Field Research Assistant, and is currently an Ocean Resiliency Program Coordinator at The Bay Foundation. View his CV.
