"My name is Val Nguyen (they/them), and I'm from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I'm a sophomore double-majoring in Psychology and Philosophy! When I'm not working as an Emmons Peer Health Educator or involved in research, I serve as the Psychology Club's Co-Vice President and Viets of Oxy (VOO)'s Co-Marketing Director. I also write and illustrate for The Occidental (our newspaper), in addition to working with Verum Legalis (our undergraduate law journal). I joined ISO to help others find community, especially since I believe that no one should feel foreign in a place they’re trying to call home. Somewhere between all that, I hop from one cafe to another and consume horror movies."
