Prof. Keith Holyoak

Recent advances in artificial intelligence—especially large language models such as chatGPT—raise the question of whether machines are on the threshold of overtaking humans as the most advanced intelligent systems in the known universe.

Prof. Holyoak will discuss what we’ve learned from direct comparisons of the cognitive abilities of humans and chatGPT, focusing on analogical reasoning, the interpretation of literary metaphors, and the generation of poetry.
