A talk by Theater search candidate Dr. Joy Brooke Fairfield
For over a decade, leaders in the field of intimacy choreography have been developing systems for staging sexually charged material in a way that prioritizes the body sovereignty of actors. In a few weeks, the first academic journal section will be published on the topic, which includes multiple contributions on the history, present, and future of intimacy choreography. In this talk, Dr. Fairfield will introduce current themes and tensions within the coalescing field from her perspective as the guest editor of this special section and as an advocate for a broad understanding of the origins and possibilities of the field of intimacy choreography.
