In observance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Project SAFE invites students, staff, and faculty to join Indigenous Roots of Restorative Justice, an interactive workshop exploring the origins, values, and practices of restorative justice.
Grounded in Indigenous traditions, restorative justice emphasizes accountability, healing, and community-centered approaches to harm.
This workshop will introduce participants to the historical and cultural foundations of restorative practices while creating space for reflection and dialogue. Attendees will also engage in a hands-on activity, crafting their own talking piece out of clay. This talking piece is a meaningful object used in many Indigenous traditions to facilitate respectful listening and shared storytelling in circle processes.
Through learning and creativity, participants will deepen their understanding of how restorative justice can offer alternative pathways toward healing, accountability, and collective care.
