Rushing yards amassed by sophomore running back Kwame Do, setting a new Oxy record for a single season. Do passed the previous mark of 1,084 yards (set 45 years earlier by Gene Moore '69) with an 18-yard run against Whittier on Nov. 9. He led the SCIAC in rushing with 158.4 yards per game and earned first team All-Conference honors for the Tigers, who went 5-4 (4-3 SCIAC) in Doug Semones' first season as head coach.
Average salary of recent Oxy graduates according to the PayScale College Salary Report, which assesses the earning potential associated with degrees from various colleges. Occidental ranks 36th among all liberal arts colleges in the survey. Mid-career professionals with an Oxy degree earn $88,000 on average.
New minors—public health and neuroscience—to be added to the Oxy curriculum in the 2014-15 academic year. Each new program represents an interdepartmental collaboration: between biology, psychology, and cognitive science for neuroscience; and biology, kinesiology, and urban and environmental policy for public health. The minors will be open to all students.
