Occidental was named the No. 5 NCAA Division III school for football by the NCSA on Thursday.

“We’re happy to be recognized as a terrific place for student-athletes to grow academically, as football players and as people,” Oxy head coach Rob Cushman said. “We’re excited about the work we’ve done recruiting to put this group together and can’t wait for games to start.”

The ranking was published in the USA Today High School Sports weekly column.

Next College Student-Athlete, a college recruiting company, produces rankings with the goal of, “helping families find the right college fit athletically, academically, socially and financially.” The methodology includes engagement by recruits on the NCSA website, IPEDS data, and other non-athletic variables.
