CAMPUS NOTES
Summer programs are underway on campus, some returning to in-person for the first time in two years and some for the first time ever. Twenty-five students are currently interning at nonprofit organizations around the city as part of the Hameetman Career Center's InternLA program.
CAMPUS NOTES
After a two-year hiatus, Human Resources was able once again to invite the College's employees to its annual Employee Recognition lunch and awards ceremony. The event was especially touching as our community comes together to grieve the loss of Robert Torres.
NOTE FROM PRESIDENT ELAM
This past weekend, President Elam was inaugurated as our 16th president in a joyous Hillside Theater ceremony featuring a number of musical performances, as well as a call to bring “New Harmonies” to an Occidental liberal arts education. Thank you to everyone on campus who made the beautiful event possible.
NOTE FROM PRESIDENT ELAM
I’m excited to announce that Occidental, together with DePauw, Oberlin, Macalester, Pomona and Skidmore, have launched the Liberal Arts College Racial Equity Leadership Alliance (LACRELA), a national coalition to address racial inequities on our campuses.
NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT
Four weeks into the fall semester, I could not be more impressed with Oxy staff, faculty and students. My interactions with everyone affirm everything I heard about Oxy before I arrived and leave me very optimistic for our future.
NOTE FROM HUMAN RESOURCES
As classes have begun and we embark on a new academic year, with all the excitement that it brings, it is clear that worldwide developments have created the need for resourcefulness, adaptability and understanding.
