The Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement, in collaboration with offices across Oxy's campus, hosts a series of webinars throughout the year designed to address common concerns that parents and families have as they seek to support their student during their Oxy journey.
For incoming first-year or transfer families, representatives from the academic affairs and residential education, housing services, and student conduct departments answer questions around a student's early days on campus and the start of their Oxy academic experience. Early in the second semester, Rob Flot, vice president and dean of students, hosts a Q&A to check-in with first-year families centered on specific programs and services available to Oxy students.
As students and their families enter the second year at Oxy and begin to narrow their focus on a major and other co-curricular program opportunities, our webinar offering features Robin Craggs P'21, executive director of the International Programs Office. She presents comprehensive information on Oxy's study abroad opportunities and the application process.
In the first semester of a student's junior year, our series highlights the Hameetman Career Center with Executive Director Cherena Walker P'19. While students are encouraged to visit the HCC early and often, Cherena shares details on career resources, internships and other programs available to Oxy students as they get closer to graduation.
A new addition to our slate of webinars in the spring of 2020, will be an informational session with academic affairs on Oxy's senior comprehensives, which reflect Oxy's educational philosophy of learning deeply and independently.
