De Mandel Aquatic Center: Coming soon!
Updated McKinnon Family Tennis Center: Open now
Designed by the nationally recognized architectural firm of Moule & Polyzoides and landscaped by award-winning Van Atta Associates, Occidental’s new 58,000 square-foot complex will make it possible for Oxy’s swimming, diving, water polo and tennis teams to train and compete in facilities that meet NCAA and conference standards.
Building a Home Team Advantage
By bringing the pool and tennis courts up to NCAA and SCIAC standards, the new complex represents a homecoming in a very real way: the limitations of current facilities mean the Tigers rarely host conference games or meets at Oxy.
Enhancing the Campus
Designed to blend seamlessly with Jack Kemp Stadium, the new athletic complex will replace parking lots with facilities that honor the historic design legacy of Myron Hunt and Beatrix Farrand.
Serving the Community
“I see the pool as a place where lifelong friendships are created and forged," says trustee Bill Davis '80, a swimming and water polo standout as a student. “Not just for competitive teams, but for people who are lap swimmers or just hanging out by the pool–a place where people convene and relationships emerge. It will improve the quality of life for a large number of students."
