Please consider these factors regarding financial aid at Occidental.

All international students who apply to Occidental will be considered for merit-based scholarships, but need-based financial aid for international students is limited and extremely competitive. Merit awards are given to students who show outstanding academic, extracurricular, and personal achievement. Need-based financial aid offers financial support to students based a their family's ability to pay for an Occidental education (determined by family income and assets).

We offer merit-based scholarships to many international students each year, but we typically only offer need-based financial aid to two international applicants each year. Therefore, international students who are able to meet our costs should not apply for (or expect) any need-based financial aid. Due to extremely limited funding for international students, financial aid packages for non-citizens may fall short of a student's full demonstrated financial need.
