Lecture by Sami Siegelbaum on Agnes Denes' work "Wheatfield – A Confrontation"
At a time when most working class residents find it difficult to afford the cost of housing in major American cities, it is worth revisiting a moment in the early years of this process. During the summer of 1982, artist Agnes Denes planted, tended, and harvested two acres of wheat on a portion of land fill in Lower Manhattan created by the construction of the World Trade Center and Battery Park City.
Head Bowls / Brain Bowls by Artist Patricia Yossen
Yossen invites participants to confront the use of these objects by sculpting personalized ceramic bowls in the shape of their craniums. By personalizing the form of the food receptacle, Yossen hopes to steer participants towards a more intimate perspective, to provoke modified habits and assumptions.
Chai Chats by Tea Afar
Drop by to share tea and sweets from a different culture each week and chat about any and everything. Tea is the medium for a ritual that is practiced daily around the world. Though the ritual may vary, tea carves out time and space for hospitality, tradition and mediation. Come share with us.
