As a space of belonging for geographically, culturally and socially diverse constituencies, we explore the inclusive culture of food and how it transcends conventional systems of power. Breaking Bread is an opportunity to consider our coexistence through food, find shared connections and practices and hold spaces within them to thrive.
Freestyle/Beatbox Workshop
Chris Sullivan from the Broadway bound Freestyle Love Supreme will deliver a three hour workshop to Oxy students on storytelling, beatboxing and improvisational poetry/rap with an emphasis on language arts and self expression using improv thinking tools and methods of vocal percussion.
He will outline his philosophy around improv thinking and lead activities designed to help nurture healthy process around collaboration, introduce new skills based in improvisational hip-hop and storytelling, while creating an inclusive and respectful environment.

Theater Department Auditions
All are welcome to audition for either or both Fall 2019 productions. We seek a diverse group of students who want to explore and challenge contemporary culture through theater, music and movement. All levels of experience are encouraged to come try out.
Tour of Sanborn Archive
Join us for a tour of the Sanborn Fire Insurance Atlas archive housed at California State University, Northridge (CSUN). The tour will be led by cartographer David Deis. This collection of historic maps was critical in the development of the Oxy Arts exhibition Compass Rose by Debra Scacco.
Compass Rose Closing Reception
Please join us to celebrate the closing of the inaugural exhibition at Oxy Arts on York! The closing reception provides a final opportunity to engage with the Compass Rose collaborators and exhibition. Light refreshments and snacks will be served.
NELA Stories Neighborhood Walk
