This reception is an opportunity for BIPOC students to come together in community and build relationships with President Elam, Vice President for Equity & Justice, Dr. Carreon Bradley, and other Oxy employees who help support student success. Delicious food and drink will be served outdoors!
Carter Norfleet is a former Oxy student and an associate in the Los Angeles office of K&L Gates LLP. While at Oxy, Carter focused his studies on politics and the law. He enjoys mentoring students and is happy to make himself available as a resource to Oxy students thinking about law school and a legal career.
There is increasing doubt on both sides of our current political divide about the enduring viability of democracy in the United States. How can we break through seemingly intractable ideologies to the policies that will preserve the tenets of democracy for our children and grandchildren?
Join President Elam as he welcomes Broderick Johnson, chair of the My Brother’s Keeper Alliance Advisory Council and current EVP, Public Policy & EVP, Digital Equity for Comcast Corporation. They will discuss mentorship, equity and justice, and the digital divide.

The Spirit Car Parade will take place on Saturday, October 23 as part of Oswlad's Homecoming Celebration on the Quad. Prizes include $500 for the best overall car and $100 for each category which include MOST OXY SPIRIT, MOST CREATIVE, MOST DETAILED, FUNNIEST, LEAST LIKELY TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE QUAD!
