The BioBlitz is a citizen science event to document the biodiversity of Occidental College. During this one day event, we will identify as many species as possible on the Occidental College campus. These data will provide baseline knowledge about local biodiversity so we can measure how these species respond to future environmental changes.

Former students, friends and colleagues will be paying tribute to Bob in Thorne Hall, one of the campus venues where he used to teach. An informal reception on the Thorne Patio will follow the celebration. The program will be videotaped and posted on the College's YouTube channel so that anyone unable to attend will be able to see it.
You have probably read coverage in The Occidental pertaining to former trustee Jennifer Townsend Crosthwaite, her husband Barry Crosthwaite, and honorary degree recipient Paul Popenoe. As promised prior to Spring Break, ASOC is hosting a town hall listening session. In light of the additional information available, we will be expanding topics discussed to include blackface, anti-semitism, and eugenics.
Paul Charbonneau will be leading the monthly meetings. Here what he has to say about this space:
"[Masculinity and Mental Health] is going to be a space of education and discussion surrounding mental health, masculinity, and how those two intersect in our modern world. Battling with my own mental illness and recently becoming a full fledged advocate and speaker for mental illness this past year has underscored the importance of having a space like this for male-identifying individuals at Oxy. I'm hoping to make this a meaningful monthly gathering."
