Pre-med and pre-health students will have the rare opportunity to engage in this hands-on learning experience which may include: an introduction to the basic suture kit, types of sutures, basic suture knots, suture techniques and procedures, and suture removal. Offered at Adventist Health Glendale (3 miles from Oxy), the COPE Health Scholars program allows students to gain firsthand experience in both clinical and administrative healthcare settings and how to become an integral part of the patient care team. Students will assist with basic patient care while observing nurses, physicians and other clinicians. In addition, students will have opportunities to learn the business of health care. This program is suitable for students who are preparing for a health care career.
