An update on Oxy’s policy regarding mask use outdoors.
Dear Oxy,
Late last week, I sent a message to the community regarding the recent guidance from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on masking and the relation of CDC guidance to state and county guidance that Oxy must abide by.
At this time there are no changes to Oxy’s policy for all individuals to wear masks indoors. However, we are clarifying the following outdoor mask-related policies for the Oxy community:
- All community members are expected to carry a mask with them at all times.
- Fully vaccinated individuals are only required to wear a mask outdoors when they are in crowded settings.
- Unvaccinated students, faculty, staff, and contractors must continue to wear a mask outdoors, even when they can maintain a physical distance of at least six feet.
I will continue to send additional information about Oxy’s emerging policies as we have them.
