President Elam announces that all Occidental students who enroll in the Fall 2020 semester will receive a one-time $1,500 tuition credit for that semester.
In recognition of the extraordinary circumstances and challenges we face, we want to support both our incoming and enrolled students’ dedication to their education. I write to share that all Occidental students who enroll in the 2020 Fall Semester will receive a one-time $1,500 tuition credit for that semester.
Our decision to offer this tuition credit reflects our acknowledgment of these unique times of both struggle and change, and we continue to hold fast also to our unwavering commitment to meet the full demonstrated need of each student. The credit will appear on students' billing statement or account to help reduce the amount due for the fall semester. Students receiving need-based financial aid, depending on the nature of their package, may see the credit reflected as either a reduction in their expected family contribution or loan amount.
Regardless of the mode of instruction, students will benefit from the high quality and integrity of our academic programs, our dedicated and distinguished faculty, our concern for personalized advising and care of the whole student. We are already developing creative ways to teach and reach each of our students, especially this upcoming semester.
We know students are experiencing their undergraduate careers at a historic moment and want to provide some additional financial relief to families while maintaining the excellence on which Occidental's reputation rests.
Sincerely,
President Elam
