Brendan Kim examines the recent revival of trot music in South Korea – a hitherto antiquated genre of Korean popular music that became overshadowed by K-pop's rise to global prominence. Kim explores how disparate factors such as globalization and nationalism converged to uniquely position trot for its revival today.
