Internationally recognized Human Rights scholar, Prof. Alison Brysk presents her last publication "The Struggle for Freedom from Fear: Contesting Violence Against Women at the Frontiers of Globalization." Alison Brysk is Mellichamp Professor of Global Governance at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Professor Brysk has been named both an International Studies Association and an American Political Science Association Distinguished Scholar of Human Rights. Her wide-ranging research draws both on global theorizing as well as fieldwork on human rights in Latin America and Asia. This has led to a particular focus on the globalization of human rights, gender and human rights, and the future of human rights, including forces pushing both their expansion and contraction.
Professor Brysk's two most recent books are The Future of Human Rights (2018) and The Struggle for Freedom from Fear: Contesting Violence against Women at the Frontiers of Globalization (2018)
